Reflecting on the year

At some point in the summer, when you realize you don’t have to set the alarm…you stop and reflect. Well, for me this past year might have been my toughest school year. While I loved my kids, I had some tough situations that challenged me in a different way. Let’s just say I spent a lot of time praying, remembering on why I was there, and a lot of time researching as to ways I could bring about change. Nonetheless, in the midst of all of my school responsibilities, family, and life in general…I was able to push through and make it to…the summer! What are some of your reflections from the school year? Or do you just burn rubber out of the parking lot and not look back until August?

I am a wife, mother of three, poet, author, teacher, and speaker. The first ministry God has given me started at home with my husband of 27 years. We have grown up together and become dear friends over the years. The Lord added three kids to the ministry, Elijah, Nehemiah and Amaziah. They have blessed us beyond measure in so many ways. We pray that we will be examples of the kingdom who they will want to always follow. In addition to family ministry, for the last 20 years I have taught Language Arts in private, public and home school settings. Throughout my years of teaching, God has given me a sincere heart for teachers. Therefore, I am on a divine mission to help the world appreciate and support teachers. It is an honor for me to encourage teachers by using the knowledge, skills, love of poetry, experience as a teacher that the Lord has given and match it with wisdom from the master teacher, Jesus Christ. I had the privilege to express some of this wisdom in my book entitled, “The Unforgettable Teacher’s Journey.” In this book I write about the truth of the miraculous ministry of Jesus to encourage and inspire teachers in their journey. Each chapter paints a beautiful picture of how the journey of a teacher is remarkably similar to the ministry of Jesus. Teachers will be inspired by the eloquently crafted biblical truths as well as the peaceful poetry that is strategically positioned throughout this book. I pray that all that I do, whether in family or public ministry, be a blessing to those who hear it!
